Hi, I’m Allee, and I love chickens.
We have a coop with 18 chickens in a variety of breeds, and my favorite chicken is a Polish named Tori. Chickens have been a big part of life for my family, and over the years we’ve experienced many of the ups and downs that come with raising them.
We’ve raised chicks, watched them grow into completely different personalities, learned what works and what doesn’t, and also dealt with some of the harder parts of keeping chickens—including losing chicks and chickens to predators. Those experiences have taught us a lot about caring for a flock and about just how rewarding chicken keeping can be.
Why I Created ChickenGurus.com
I decided to build ChickenGurus.com so I could share some of the knowledge and experience my family has gained from raising chickens. There is always something new to learn, whether you’re choosing your first breeds, setting up a coop, raising chicks, collecting eggs, dealing with flock behavior, or trying to keep your chickens safe and healthy.
My goal is to make this site a useful place for both new and experienced chicken keepers to find practical information, ideas, and answers based around the realities of raising chickens.
